Sydney Kings players Angus Brandt and Jason Cadee with Year 5 students
On Thursday 14 August, Year 5 students from St Patrick’s Primary, Parramatta were thrilled to meet Sydney Kings basketball players, Angus Brandt and Jason Cadee.
After introducing themselves and sharing some of their personal stories about where they grew up and started their basketball careers, Angus and Jason ran through a range of ball skills and drills with the students.
The Year 5 students had a wonderful experience and lots of fun participating. Congratulations to Francis Dagostino and Nathan Rizk who were the winners of the fast pass clap game, displaying exceptional hand-eye coordination and impressed the Sydney Kings players.
Jason and Angus played a trivia game with Year 5 and many students received Sydney Kings merchandise for answering correctly. Year 5 teacher Anne Fardell even won a prize for guessing where Angus played his junior basketball.
The players signed the student’s hats and merchandise and even gave out free tickets to their next home game. Students were thrilled to have a group photo with Angus and Jason
At the conclusion of the event, Year 5 students thanked Physical Education teacher David Younis for organising an amazing experience to develop their ball skills and meet professional basketball players.

💃✨ Memories from the Stage ✨💃 The certificates and ribbons are wonderful, but sometimes the best part is simply the experience! Our Dance Eisteddfod gave our students the chance to perform, laugh, cheer each other on and create memories that will last long after the music stopped. 🎶 For some, it may have been a wonderful day out. 🐱📚 Book Week 2026 – Let the Symphony Begin! 🎶 What better way to begin our 100 Years of Education - Book Week celebrations than with a little fun from our St Patrick's staff! Paying tribute to the much-loved picture book Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, our teachers transformed into a very cool litter of cats! 📚✨ Where Do Stories Begin?📚✨ Last Thursday, our Kindergarten to Year 3 students had the wonderful opportunity to meet Australian children's author Ashleigh Barton as part of our Book Week celebrations. Author of much-loved books including What Do You Call Your Grandma?, What Do You Call Your Grandpa?, How Do You Say I Love You? and Dinosaur in My Pocket, Ashleigh shared her love of books, creativity and the wonderful world of storytelling.
