Sydney Kings players Angus Brandt and Jason Cadee with Year 5 students
On Thursday 14 August, Year 5 students from St Patrick’s Primary, Parramatta were thrilled to meet Sydney Kings basketball players, Angus Brandt and Jason Cadee.
After introducing themselves and sharing some of their personal stories about where they grew up and started their basketball careers, Angus and Jason ran through a range of ball skills and drills with the students.
The Year 5 students had a wonderful experience and lots of fun participating. Congratulations to Francis Dagostino and Nathan Rizk who were the winners of the fast pass clap game, displaying exceptional hand-eye coordination and impressed the Sydney Kings players.
Jason and Angus played a trivia game with Year 5 and many students received Sydney Kings merchandise for answering correctly. Year 5 teacher Anne Fardell even won a prize for guessing where Angus played his junior basketball.
The players signed the student’s hats and merchandise and even gave out free tickets to their next home game. Students were thrilled to have a group photo with Angus and Jason
At the conclusion of the event, Year 5 students thanked Physical Education teacher David Younis for organising an amazing experience to develop their ball skills and meet professional basketball players.

💚💛 100 Days of Learning, 100 Days of Friendship 💚💛 On Monday, our Kindergarten students celebrated 100 Days of School with their wonderful Year 6 buddies. Together they enjoyed a game of 100-themed Snakes and Ladders, sharing plenty of laughs as they counted their way around the board. Our Year 6 students also proudly read the special buddy books they had created for their Kindergarten friends, making the celebration even more meaningful. It was heartwarming to see our oldest and youngest students spending time together, building friendships and creating memories. The kindness, patience and leadership shown by our Year 6 students, along with the enthusiasm and excitement of our Kindergarten students, are wonderful examples of the caring community we strive to build at St Patrick's. Celebrating 100 days of learning wasn't just about counting to 100—it was about celebrating the friendships, confidence and sense of belonging that have grown throughout the year. 🏉 Stage 3 Touch Football Gala Day 🏉 Last Friday, our Stage 3 students proudly represented St Patrick's at the Touch Football Gala Day, and what a fantastic day it was! With four teams taking to the field, our boys and girls displayed outstanding teamwork, determination and sportsmanship in every game. Whether attacking, defending or cheering on their teammates from the sidelines, they demonstrated the true spirit of St Patrick's. The results reflected their hard work, with all four teams finishing the day as winners – a wonderful achievement that highlights not only their skill but also their commitment to working together and encouraging one another. A huge congratulations to all of our players for representing our school with pride, resilience and respect. We are incredibly proud of the friendships you strengthened, the teamwork you displayed and the way you supported one another throughout the day. 🎉 100 Days Smarter! 👵👴💙 Our Kindergarten students had an unforgettable day celebrating 100 Days of School! Dressed as the cutest little grandparents, they embraced the idea of what they might look like in 100 years, complete with glasses, walking sticks, curlers, cardigans and plenty of laughter. Their creativity and enthusiasm brought smiles to everyone around them. Reaching 100 days of learning is a wonderful milestone. Each week, our students enjoy designing beautiful scrapbook pages, learning new techniques and discovering creative ways to preserve special memories. From colourful layouts and thoughtful designs to carefully chosen embellishments, every page is a unique reflection of its creator. The finished products are simply delightful, but the greatest achievement is the development of skills that can inspire a lifetime of creativity and enjoyment. Scrapbooking encourages imagination, patience, organisation and storytelling while giving students the opportunity to express themselves in meaningful ways. ⚽🏆 Year 3–4 Soccer Grand Final 🏆⚽ With soccer capturing the imagination of fans around the world, our own Year 3–4 Soccer Grand Final, organised by Mrs Cadman, brought plenty of excitement to St Patrick's! Our students showcased fantastic teamwork, determination and skill as they battled it out on the field. There were some brilliant goals, spectacular saves and enough excitement to make us think we might have a few future World Cup stars in our midst! Thankfully, Mrs Cadman didn't have to reach for too many yellow cards... and we're pleased to report the red card stayed firmly in her pocket! 😄 A huge thank you to Mrs Cadman for organising such a wonderful competition and to all of our players for their enthusiasm, resilience and great sportsmanship. 📚🎶 Borrowing Brings Stories to Life 🎶📚 There is always something exciting happening in our library! Each week, our students look forward to borrowing with Mrs O'Dwyer and Ms Pope, whose passion for books inspires a love of reading across our school. Together they create wonderful opportunities for students to discover new stories, explore their imaginations and develop a lifelong love of reading. This term is especially exciting as we look forward to Book Week, with special author visits, engaging library activities and our much-anticipated Book Week Parade. This year's theme, "Symphony of Stories," reminds us that every book has its own unique rhythm, voice and melody. As you begin thinking about costumes for the parade, we encourage families to look beyond simply wearing mufti and choose a favourite book or character that celebrates the joy of storytelling and reading.
