🐱📚 Book Week 2026 – Let the Symphony Begin! 🎶 What better way to begin our 100 Years of Education - Book Week celebrations than with a little fun from our St Patrick's staff! Paying tribute to the much-loved picture book Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, our teachers transformed into a very cool litter of cats! Led by our musical conductor, they paraded their way through our Symphony of Stories before taking to the floor for a special dance celebrating Pete and his love of white shoes. 🐱🎶📖 Our teachers certainly know how to bring a story to life and show our students that you are never too old to have fun with a good book! 📚✨ Where Do Stories Begin?📚✨ Last Thursday, our Kindergarten to Year 3 students had the wonderful opportunity to meet Australian children's author Ashleigh Barton as part of our Book Week celebrations. Author of much-loved books including What Do You Call Your Grandma?, What Do You Call Your Grandpa?, How Do You Say I Love You? and Dinosaur in My Pocket, Ashleigh shared her love of books, creativity and the wonderful world of storytelling. A huge thank you to Ms Pope and Mrs O'Dwyer for organising our author visits and giving our students the opportunity to learn from two inspiring Australian authors. ✍️📚 Inspiring Our Young Writers✍️📚 What better way to celebrate a Symphony of Stories than to hear from someone who creates them! Our Years 4–6 students were fortunate to welcome Australian author, playwright and screenwriter Maryam Master, who shared her wealth of knowledge, experiences and insights into the wonderful world of writing. Author of award-winning books including Exit Through the Gift Shop, No Words, and Laughter is the Best Ending, Maryam inspired our students to think about where stories come from and the craft of bringing them to life. 🎤 Voice of Youth🎤 We are incredibly proud of our two Year 6 students who represented St Patrick's at Voice of Youth, speaking with confidence, passion and courage. Before reaching this stage, eight Year 6 finalists presented their speeches at school, and we had the difficult task of selecting just two students to represent St Patrick's at the Cluster Final. Congratulations to all of our finalists for the depth of thought, personal reflection and heart they brought to their speeches. You certainly made the judging difficult! A special congratulations to Flora, who received the Social Justice Award for her speech. What a wonderful recognition of not only how she delivered her message, but also the importance of the message she chose to share. Congratulations to all of our representatives.
